Partnership for International Business Development
Partnership for International Business Development, LLC

The Organization succeeds to the International Business Development Foundation (IBDF), established in 1992 by a group of Russian and Swiss-based multinational companies with an active support of the International Enterprise Foundation of Geneva that had among its members American and Swiss companies such as Du Pont, IBM, Digital Equipment Company, Hewlett Packard, Philip Morris Cargill and Caterpillar, Proctor & Gamble, Philip Morris, Price Waterhouse, Tetra Pak, CIBA, Credit Suisse, Union Bank, and a number of other international business giants. The majority of these companies became the founders of IBDF that was registered in Russia as an independent legal entity with the status of a non-governmental, non-profit organization. In Russia, the fund was represented by organizations such as the Administration of the Leningrad Region, State Research & Production Association "Luch," TokoBank, Higher Commercial Management School (HCMS) of the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation, and many others.

The goal of the Partnership is to set up mutually beneficial relations between Russian and foreign companies, to implement international projects, and to provide consultative services to our members. The Partnership has established business relations with a number of foreign and international organizations, such as the World Bank, the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, US-Russia Business Council, Telecommunication and Electronic Consortium, and American Chamber of Commerce in Russia. The Partnership’s experts work on large, international projects, including acquisition of North American technologies for timber processing and manufacturing of building materials.
In addition, PIBD LLC is an active player in the conference and exhibition market. Working at conferences, we are not aiming to increase the number of events carried out. Instead, we prefer to conduct our work in the haute couture style, which allows us to fully consider the needs of our clients and the interests of the conference participants. In practice, the Partnership regularly conducts official events timed to parliamentary hearings of the State Duma Committee on Natural Resources and Land Use. In the course of several years PIBD acted as the facilitator of several round table discussions on the use and protection of the environment during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. In 2006, the Partnership conducted a round table discussion on the topic of the Realization of the Competitive Advantages of Russia’s Lumbering Industry, during the 10th St. Petersburg Economic Forum. The top officials of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the heads of the Regional administrations, deputies of the State Duma, and representatives of the largest lumbering associations took part in the discussion. An exchange of ideas about the prospects of the industry took place at the Forum, showing that addressing the problems of the lumbering industry can only be done through close interaction with the legislative and executive branches of power. The recommendations of the participants of the round table were forwarded to the government agencies of the Russian Federation, Presidential apparatus, State Duma, and all other interested bodies.

An important event to note, from among the many that were organized with the help of the Partnership, was the visit of the Russian delegation headed by the Minister of Transport, Igor Letvin, to the German Logistics Congress. The Congress, during which Russia received the status of a guest nation for the first time, hosted several business meetings with foreign partners, as well as discussions on the development of the logistics services markets. One of the visit’s most conspicuous outcomes was the signing of a joint declaration of cooperation in the sphere of transport, and the organization of rail-ferry communications, by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Minister of Transport, Construction, and Urban Development of Germany.

In 2008 – 2009, the PIBD conducted a series of international trade events dedicated to the development of transport sector including an international conference on concession agreements to develop transport infrastructure and the First Russian Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems.
